Form Fix Friday: Correcting the Deadlift

I love and hate this hinge variation. A lot of people completely ruin this movement pattern by turning it into (excuse my language) a shitty quarter squat. This movement is meant to be a hip dominant pull rather than a knee dominant push. In the first photo, I had Jalen demonstrate a trap bar quarter squat by dropping his hips, bending his knees and performing a knee dominant push. In the second photo, I corrected the form by having him slightly bend his knees, (soft knees) push his butt back to the wall and engage his hamstrings. From there, I had him push his hips through and stand up using his glutes to drive the movement. Moral of the story here: DON’T DO A QUARTER SQUAT AND CALL IT A DEADLIFT.
